Ok I'm new to this gross practice of washing the nasal passage. I'm using Entsol Hypertonic Nasal Wash and when I tried it out using 8 ounces of water and 1 packet of Entsol powder my nose stings so badly with only few seconds of rinse. I had to cough it all out and I don't dare to use it again. Any suggestions of what can be done? Can I make an isotonic solution instead? How much of Entsol powder should I add to make one?

I just use 1/4 tsp. un-iodized salt and distilled water (you could add 1/8 tsp. baking soda to the salt, too) per cup. When irrigating, tilt your head slightly to the side, don't tilt your head back, and don't squeeze the bottle too fast. Close the back of your throat with your tongue like your making the "k" sound to prevent the uncomfortableness of fluid going down your throat. Although, if it goes down your throat it's no big deal.

Also, Don't irrigate when you have a really stuffy nose. You could create pressure in your ears and fluid retention in your ears.

Try using distilled water instead of plain tap, that seems to work for me, I use Neilmed solution www.neilmed.com. Yes it is GROSS, but I promise, it works and keeps you healthy. Good luck!
P.S. Neilmed sells packets measured the exact proper amount. You can check with your pharmacy it sells for about 12 dollars.

DON'T TRY USING THE ENTIRE 8 OZ AT ONCE. IF THAT'S WHAT YOUR TO USE, WORK YOUR WAY UP TO IT.
