My grandmother is 77 years old and on dialysis. She was just taken to the hospital last night/this morning with pneumonia and this question might not come out the way I mean it, but what are her chances of recovering from it? I love her to death, she's the only grandparent I have left, but I know that pneumonia is serious for anyone, wether you are 12 years old or 80 years old, and I just want to know with her other health condition (dialysis) exactly what may happen. I know she is also having a problem with the graph in her arm that they use to deliever her dialysis medicine as well. Anyone, maybe with experience, able to give me some information on what to expect?

My father-n-law was on dialysis. There are family members older than 77 that have been on it for years...her shunt will probably be fixed in the hospital if not ask why...I expect she'll come home; she may have yo go to re-hab, but I doubt it.. the issue is she is probably not moving around enough and that makes her susceptible to pneumonia because of inactivity...The best anyone can do is to make sure she is as comfortable as possible but just know lack of activity does lead to more pneumonia...
