No, home-made Chinese food is not fatty. It might taste bad because a lot of Chinese restaurants here in the US are take-out which has a lot of sodium and oil. But at home, since I'm Chinese, we eat a lot of stuff that does not really have to do with General Tso's chicken. Plus, we don't really use MSG or that much oil. But that does not mean we don't have things that can be similar to Chinese food you usually eat. For example, we have this stuff too: -stir fried or noodle soup -sauteed veggies -soup (we even make egg drop which has a lot of sodium in take-out places) -and more If you really want to taste a home-made Chinese dish, then you could ask a Chinese neighbor or ask a question about it here on Yahoo! Answers. You could even travel to China! -Chao

Well the general thinking among most healthy-eating activists is that we should all avoid consumpsions of sugary sweets and fatty foods as well. Chinese isn't that bad - it depends on your intake and what other related foods you take, but my advice would be to eat reponsibly, it's never really good to always eat the same type of food, you need to have an intake of varieties.

What you describe isn't REAL Chinese food, it's American-Chinese. Fried foods in general should be eaten on a limited basis. Remember though, everything in moderation. Don't make it a weekly addition to you meal plan but once in a while is a nice treat.

It depends on the level of cholestrol. If the food you eat is too oily, you'll get a high cholestrol and this is bad for you. Find chinese food that is less cholestrol and control yourself the amount of food you want to eat.
No worry of eating chinese food! Good luck!

No anything in moderation is fine. Try to stay away from the fried rice, steamed is healthy also.

Yes, that particular dish is bad for you. It has loads of fat and sugar in it. Try regular rice and stir fry (kung pau chicken is yummy, and so is General Tso's). Sushi is generally pretty good for you.

That's like asking if Mexican or Moroccan or American food is bad for you. Certain dishes are, but there's healthier options it might be worthwhile to explore. You just can't generalize an entire country's cuisine as good or bad.
