I love Rachael Ray's recipes. I have made several of her dishes and its nice to have recipes of things I normally have on hand. I work from 7:45 to 5:30 each day and have a 30 minute trip home. After getting home, I don't want to spend an hour or more trying to cook for my family. She used canned goods and things that I keep stocked and that makes for less trips to the grocery store just to cook supper! As for a grown woman saying yummers; .... As my mom once told my granny ..if growing up means acting like I am old ... I choose not to grow up! There is nothing wrong with a woman saying yummers! I use that term every day because my teenage sons and 21 year old daughter use them.

She is like all the other TV chefs, they become the "Flavour of the Month", like Hollywood they latch on to soemone and run them like a dog on a treadmill.
I was a Chef for 20 yrs in Canada, and never wanted to have any of the glory some the other guys I worked with or went to school with who got famous, I figured, my reward was th paycheque I got every 2 weeks.
But the Food Network/Canada is a fantasy station promoting the way to cook in fairyland. I would never have sold out, I feel anyone worth the salt is a chef in a restaurant and not on TV

There's nothing wrong with using canned stuff. Sometimes, you need to and quite a few restaurants and chefs used canned goods when needed.
Rachel Ray's whole thing is to make things that everyone can make and that doesn't take too long. This way, no matter how busy you are, you can make something delicious for dinner.

Can you believe that she always brags about how she can't even bake! How can you have a cooking show on the Food Network, and not be able to bake SOMETHING!
I agree - I think her food looks horrendous.
I love Paula Deen though - how about you?!?!

I dont much about her but you cant use that to say Americans no nothing about great food. You say she uses canned food, well,MAYBE her purpose is to help people who arent great cooks or dont have time to make lavish meals and cut up different foods. Sadly, too many American women dont stay home to raise their kids and they get off work at 5,have a long commute, pick up their kids and have to feed them at 7pm and get em into bad. For those people theres not much time. Maybe Rachel is about convenience.

I think it's because she's more like your "average" home cook, people think she's cute and pretty, and her food isn't snobby like Bobby Flay or Mario Batali.
The only reason I have just a little respect for her is that she never went to culinary school. And look where she is now!

I think she appeals to the "everyday person" not the foodie...and to old people.
Most food geeks I know (and people under the age of 35) can't stand her.
My wife can't cook and she has picked up some stuff on her 30-minute meals show...but personally...I don't think any grown women should ever use the word: "yummers".

People like her because its quick, easy and usually pretty tasty. Most Americans dont have an hour or more to spend in the kitchen making dinner.
