What is ADD?
ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) is a group of symptoms that affect concentration and a person's ability to focus.
It can also cause mood swings, impulsiveness, and behavioral and social problems. Children with these problems have difficulty completing their school work and are often in trouble with parents and teachers.
What are the causes of ADD?
There are many different causes and explanations for the symptoms of ADD including diet, allergies, food intolerances, low muscle tone, anxiety, depression, family problems, poor discipline and even some forms of illness.
Unfortunately some doctors and therapists do not do a thorough assessment and simply prescribe potentially harmful psychiatric drugs without considering what the causes the problem might be.

ADD-Attention Deficit Disorder--"misfires" in the brain cause the inability to keep attention span to the desired length of time, such as classes, reading, times when it is necessary to pay attention. It is usually corrected fairly easily with a medical background. It is not something that the person diagnosed can control. It is a chemical imbalance or "misfires" in the brain. There is, also, ADHD, which is attention deficit, hyperactive disorder. Both are medical conditions and both can be corrected with proper medication. But the person being diagnosed should always get a second opinion. My son was diagnosed as ADD, but was epileptic. ADD medicine is very counteractive for epileptics. But second opinions are always a good idea when being diagnosed with a lifetime condition.

ADD is attention deficit disorder. People that have this disorder have a deficit of attention. This means that they will say shocking things, do shocking things to get attention. If attention is not paid to them, their symptoms get worse and worse. The real conundrum of this disorder is the people that have it, are usually not at all worth paying attention to. Some people say attention deficit disorder is when someone has a hard time keeping focused on any one thing for an extended period of time. That is not correct.
