If you believe in "god" why can't you keep it to yourself instead of pushing your ideology on other people?

Hold up - I never said I had a problem with it.. I asked why people do it. Talk about telling me not to be critical without my actually being so!

If you saw someone speeding down a highway toward a bridge that was out, would you not do everything that you could to warn them of the approaching danger?

Likewise, everyone without Christ is speeding toward hell, we want to warn them of the approaching danger that they might repent (change direction).

Would it be "loving" to let the speeding driver drive off the missing bridge just to avoid offending him? Nor would it be loving to let someone leave this earth without telling them about Christ.

Believing in God means doing what He wants us to do.

This includes telling others about Him and His promises and warnings.

If I told you were in danger of losing your life and you then saw it for yourself, would you not be grateful?

By the presence of someone presenting a scriptural message on your doorstep, you at least have the opportunity to refuse. A minute out of your life is surely a small price to pay for you to have the opportunity to choose to believe in the message presented.

Of course, it's your choice. Perhaps in your own time, when you've nothing better to do, you could have a look at this web site.

Generally I don't think religious people do try and push their religion on others. Just the fanatics who cannot accept a different view point!!!

I'm not religious but talk to a lot of Vicars, Priests, Hindu, Muslims and most of the time they want to talk about everything but religion!

Well as a Christian, I certainly don't push anything on anybody. However if somebody asks me a question and I feel that I should share the gospel with them, then I will, because thats what God wants us to do with our lives. Of course if I was a muslim I'd just kill you all for not being muslims, but luckily for me i'm not!!!

Atheist rhetoric....if you do not believe in God, why can you not simply ignore those questions which have to do with ideology and let those who are interested answer them? Then you can spen your time answering questions which pertain to you and not spend time being angry about something silly. Life is too short to be angry about something you claim to be trivial or of no consequense. If you wish to have respect afforded to you for your opinion then you have to be able to meet others half way with that respect. Have a wonderful day!!

For true Christians, it is part of our worship to tell others about Christ. He gave us the commission at Matthew 28:19, 20; It matters not to a true Christian what you decide to do with that information (of course, we're happy if you accept and excercise faith in Jesus' ransom sacrifice) but when it comes down to it, we are just being obedient to Christ when we tell you about him. Jehovah could have made the stones cry out the message about Jesus but he chose to use true Christians.

God Lovers get quite taken up by the joy they get, so they want to share it with you. Bit like side shows at a fair, they shout to get your attention. All you need do is smile sweetly and keep on walking your own path. Be well.

Gods word is the only real truth and as such has power that cannot be suppressed, but I get your point about pushing it down others throats, this is one reason why people are put off from it.

If you knew a plague was around, would you warn people about it or would you keep it to yourself? If your village was about to be invaded by a hostile force, would you tell everyone or just get yourself out? If we knew that God's judgement was coming, should we not warn people, or just look after ourselves?

If you don't want people to discuss their religious beliefs then why on earth would you be in the Q&A religious section...
