I live in the UK, pay for national health, but my NHS doctor says I don't need a medical. I know nothing's wrong with me, but a 4 yearly comprehensive checkup is what I would like to do. My father has had cancer detected early twice this way, and it has saved his life. Please help.

I understand what you are saying but the NHS couldn't possibly afford to do that for everyone for free!

I suggest you prioritise your spending and pay for yourself to have some, or all, of the checks you think you need.

Try changing your doctor, they will carry out a check up on you, or try askign to speak to a different doctor.
