No, because truly religious people don't kill. Some people use religion as a cover for their evil deeds - look at Hitler.
The true cause of wars is usually greed. The first World War didnt; have a religious agenda. Communists also have wars and of course, Africa is war torn.
While there are religious fanatics and they are always dangerous, there's usually something behind religion that is the real reason countries go to war. Dictators/tyrants might use religion to whip up fervour, though.

John Lennon was right about almost everything! And yes, no religion...no "Holy wars" of any kind! That's a good start. Now, if we could just put the "no possessions" part of the song into play, there'd be no need for war over land or burglary or mugging!

Just imagine a world like that!

No the greatest wars of the last century had nothing to do with religion . Hitler was a social Darwinist he believed in survival of the fittest on the grounds of race and hated Christianity because of teachings about love forgiveness etc and the fact that Jesus was born a Jew. And lets not forget Stalin's regime millions died under him it despised religion many churches burned as happened in China and North Korea all Communists who oppressed Religion and tortured and murdered many believers this is still happening today .John was a misguided celeb who was fuelled with drugs and drink and sense of superiority almost worshipped he followed many gurus and also had his own spiritual belief's but never really came to any conclusion.

It is a matter of historical fact that religion has caused the majority of wars. Look at today's headlines and the suicidal terrorists, expecting to be received into heaven when they blow up themselves and others.
But if it wasn't religion causing strife, it would be brunettes against blondes, blacks against whites, or tall people against small.
The potential for war is programmed into every human being; religion is just one pretext.

Lookin back through history a lot of wars had religious reasons for them so it could help although humans will always find a reason to kill each other. Thats just a sad fact about the world, I wish there was a way to change it!

Religion does not cause wars so much as it is used as a cloak of respectabilty.

However, religion is a bugbear for many and will be punished for it's many sins. (Revelation 18)

God cannot support both sides in a war, but it more likely to reject both sides. (Revelation 16)

Religion will be destroyed, I wonder if we'll miss it when it's gone?

Wars are caused by greed and selfishness, not religion. though that is sometimes used as an excuse.

Violence is human nature, I am not religious but believe if there were no religion people would find other reasons to fight!

It's unfortunate but a very real fact of humanity!

I'm sure we would find something else to start a war over if religion was abolished, we'd still have racism, sexism, ageism, homophobia, the class divide, etc. etc.

He may have been partly right but he was mostly wrong because some of what he said does not agree with what the Bible says
