i would advise buy dvds or cds from shops. because u never know what u r downloading. u can choose from a wide range if u go to a shop or a boookshop. i used to buy tapes and cds to learn french.
accent can be improved by speaking and listening to people with your desired accent. if u talk to your freind who has a wierd accent, u might get his accent. watch news in tv, english progrrames are good. try speaking to yourself, or a trustworthy friend. i know how hard it is!

The following is my suggestion:- 1) Keep reading quality newspapers and magazines in English regularly. 2) Keep watching the English News channels regularly and follow the way the speakers speak English; 3) Become a member of the British Council Library. They have even on line service. Join their course on English language. 4) Try and speak English with others when occasion demands and do not hesitate for fear of faltering. A child learns to walk after encountering many a fall.

www.starfall.com is the best site for beginners. It is geared towards children but ESL learners will benefit too. It says letters and words out loud and has leveled readers that go with it. Printables as well but it is only an on line game. The best down loadable site I found was www.studydog.com. A great combination of teaching site words and phonics. Comes in 3 levels but must have a child on free/reduced lunch program to qualify for free download.
