Hindus do not attack missionaries. The very fact that the missionaries have flourished in maximum number in independent India and conversion rate has increased after 1947 is indicative of the tolerance by the majority Hindus who constitute 84% of the total population. But in certain places some of the converted Christians act as salaried priests and make offensive statements against Hindus such as 'tribal are not Hindus', or 'Hindus are savages and conversion into Christianity civilizes them' etc. etc. Such provocative statements and conversion drive by allurement enrages the peace-loving Hindus who turn violent.

Being a missionary is to give up one's own life to help others. It is something you understand might happen when you are out in the field. I was a missionary in India and did not find this attitude. I found the Indians to be much nicer than the people here in America and I felt much safer there in the larger cities than I do in say Baltimore or Washington, DC where I live. However, I could see that happening in small villages there where there is still a lot of superstition. How is that any different than the crimes committed against Muslims in the United States since 9/11?

Why do Christian savages attack Muslims in their own country? I am pretty sure in a Christian fundamentalist country people from other religions trying to convert everyone will get attacked. Christian missionaries are like Mac Donald's, it is threat to peoples original culture. They should stop trying to globalize their traditions and culture and leave the world to be diverse.

fundamentalists exist in every religion. as the basic tenets of every religion are dogmatic and every head of religion preaches that only his/her followers go to heaven and others go to hell. instead of making the mankind unite , the religion is being used as a tool to divide people. Karl Marx already said religion is opium and the man addicted to that opium does not know what he is doing. this applies to every religion.in tolerance seemed to be reigning the minds of the people. in western countries, the racists, cut off the hair of Sikhs and insulted them. in Afghanistan, the Taliban's demolished statutes of lord Buddha.only people armed with scientific temper and rationalism treat others as equal and do not make mockery of other beliefs.
