hello Mav :)
here's the description of heaven from islamic perspective as narrated in the Hadiths (oral traditions) of the Prophet of Allah (pbuh)

* Accessibility:
"When God Almighty created the heaven and the hell, He asked [the angel] Gabriel to go and take a look at what He has prepared for believers in the Heaven. Gabriel went and had a look at what was there in the Heaven, and then he came back and expressed himself thus: 'By your dignity! Whoever will hear of this Heaven will certainly strive for it.' Then it was said that the road to the heaven is littered with hardships, and Gabriel was asked to take another look at the Heaven. He came back and said, 'By your dignity I am afraid that nobody will be able to enter it.'" (Tirmizi)

* Gates:
"The Prophet of God (peace be upon him) said: Whoever performed a perfect ablution and recited the Shahada then all the eight doors of the heaven are thrust open for him — he may enter from whichever door he likes." (Sahih Muslim)

* Distances:
"By Him in whose hands my soul is, the distance between the two gate posts of paradise is like the distance between Mecca and Himyar or between Mecca and Basra." (Bukhari)

* God's throne:
"When you pray ask for Firdaws, for it is in the middle of heaven and is higher in grade than the heaven and above Firdaws is God’s throne, moreover the canals of heaven flow from Firdaws." (Bukhari)

* Climate:
The Qur’an says of the dwellers of the heaven: "They will see there neither the sun’s [excessive heat] nor the moon’s excessive cold."

* Soil:
"And then I was showed in the heaven, I saw there were camps made of pearls and the soil was of musk." (Bukhari)

* Vegetation:
"Indeed, there is a tree in heaven so big that if a person keeps riding on a brisk Madhamar [a specially bred horse] for a hundred years even then he would not reach the end of that tree." (Bukhari)

* Splendour:
"Abu Huraira (RA) reported that the Prophet of God (peace be upon him) said: There is no tree in the heaven that does not have a trunk of gold." (Muslim)

* Sleep:
"Sleep is the sister of death and the dwellers of the heaven will not sleep." (Silsalat al-ahadith)

* Beauty:
"Indeed, there is a bazaar in the heaven where the dwellers of the Heaven will come on every Friday. The northerly wind will spray scent on them and this will enhance their beauty. And when they will return to their homes, their households will say 'By God, your beauty has enhanced.' 'So has yours,' they will return the compliment." (Muslim)

What is heaven like for Muslims?

For Muslims heaven will have all your heart desires. You will see your family and friends, and have everything that is good, to rest to sleep to eat... ANYTHING at all. Those who go to heaven are the good people, the children that died before the age of reasoning, and those who are not in control of their own action (mentally challenged, or have mental problems). Now depending on how Good you are you will have levels of enjoinment in heaven.

What do Muslims have to do to get there?

Muslims Must worship God
Believe in his books
in the angels
in the prophets
believe in the afterlife
Follow the five pillars
Do good deeds
Try to worship and remember God at all times!

Where do you go if you don't get to heaven?
You go to hell~ But there are some things that I must explain...You can also get out of hell if Allah wills it... By his mercy@ (you remember in Peter when Jesus PBUH went to visit hell for 3 days, that is a similar concept) Depending on how bad you were the level of punishment

This is the first time I know that Mav is a she!! Strange, why did I take you for a he anyway?!!!

Heaven is described in so many parts of the Quran. It is a place like you never saw, heard of or imagined. There are rivers of milk, honey and wine that does not make you drunk. There are palaces of gold and silver. There are no time or place boundaries. Once you think of someone you love, you find them right beside you. Children who die young in this life are those who pass by to give you a drink. There are so many things more that cater for all the five senses.

What do we have to do to get there? definitely NOT TO KILL. People think we muslims believe we are not to go to heaven unless we kill non-muslims and think of this as Jihad. No. We simply need to obey Allah and take our prophet as an example. Prophet Muhammad tells us that the closest to him in heaven will be those who have the best manners; so it is the spirit of religion and what is in the heart and intention that matter the most. Providing for an orphan is one very short cut to heaven. Praying, fasting, fasting, hajj, zakat and sadaqa (charity) are routes to heaven. Being good to your parents is another one. Mothers are the closest to heaven for all the suffering they go through. Being good even to animals takes you to heaven. Patience, submission, piety, even simply loving people are ways to get to heaven.

This is just a brief

Peace

I am a muslim so I'll try and answer that question.

a) No muslim can say for sure what heaven is like. Nobody has seen it, so whatever they say is just their imagination.

b) To go there, muslims just need to be good. Not crash planes into buildings, not wage war in the name of god.

c) That's easy. If you don't go to heaven, there's only one place to go to - HELL.

i think that anybody with intelligence questions each thing and Islam is not any distinctive from the rest. whilst you're truthfully a Muslim and not a troll, then that's reliable to acknowledge which you questions issues.
