They are both derivitives of Opium, but the Hydrocodone delivers much less pain releive, the Oxycodone or Oxycontin, is much stronger meds, and is much closer to the raw opium......... Extreamly tuff addition habit to break, if u stay with this one too long you will be kicking the covers big time, If the Hydro works for ya do urself a favor and stick with it.. If ya need the Oxy,by all means take it, it is prescribed for Chronic pain, but i wouldent stay with it for too many days in a row.Good luck..

Hydrocodone is Vicodin, Oxycodone is just that, Oxycodone. I would say that Oxy is stronger than Vicodin, has more addictive properties, and is usually better for pain relief, in my experience with patient pain relief. Just be careful not to take any more than your prescribed dose, and dont abuse it, it is very addictive.

Oxycodone is a better pain reliever but it can definately make one nauseated. Hydrocodone can have this same effect as well.

hydrocodone is a milder pain reliever than oxy. They are both very addictive, but oxy is A LOT more strong than the hydro....matter of fact the folks in rural areas call it "hillbilly heroine" be very careful with that one and unless it is an unbearable back or nerve pain I would stick with the hydro!!!
