That's terrible to hear. I'm a psychologist, and I would hate to think that therapy and medication were not helping. Please tell your therapist, believe me they will appreciate it. Then you can either work it out, take a break, or find a new therapist.
It could also be your expectations- antidepressants are not happy pills. They give you a break from depressive symptoms so you can concentrate and accomplish. There are also new meds out there. Discuss all this with your therapist.

yeah.I am a narcissist and having huge difficulty in my life for over 4 years now.I've tried attending 4 different types of psychotherapy within the last 3 years,I've been on meds 4 different periods since the start(including current period) and my life just got worse each day.The current point is that I've quitted school, have very little social contact,I'm not doing almost anything each and every day.Though I had a lot of insights since I've started psychanalyse this february I still feel like there is another automated me once I get some people attention and instantly I get the energy to successfully create a wonderfull image of me within other people eyes.I feel it is hopelless ever even trying though I visited some few psy different persons(maybe at least 6 seriously)and read tons of books and materials. It's crapy because I can't feel that I can learn from experience neither stop or control my flowing efervescent thoughts.
I am not speaking with my mom for over a year now (I think she is also deeply disturbed personality with a lot of bully features). My father is a narcissic too eventhough he is a psychiatrist as well.
Hope my story at least it portrayed you some other long term no visible improvement

Don't give up!! You are doing the right things to help your depression. Maybe you need to start on a different med for depression. I tryed a lot of meds before I found one that worked on me. I recommend that you try celexa. I have had a lot of luck with that one over the years. Remember it takes two or more weeks to kick in if you do try it. Good luck!!

yeah i have counselling and am on antidepressants... its taken 6 months to even start making a tiny difference... i know that doesnt sound like long compared to how long you're talking about...but i do know that for different people it may take longer to respond to medication. its also a decision you have to make to WANT to get better, you actually have to seriously decide that in your own mind. medication is not going to completely fix you and take away all the problems in your life... but it does give you a break from the symptoms of depression for a while. dont give up, it will get better if you keep trying. God bless

you need to change counselors and possibly look at getting your meds changed... it sounds like the people who are trying to help you either haven't been aggressive enough, don't know about how you really feel, or you haven't been completely upfront and honest about how you're doing.
Please discuss these concerns with them, or ask for (or research on your own) references. You shouldn't have to live your life this way.
