For some reason my computer has been completeley refusing to run video files lately! When I attempt to use vlc media player my entire computer locks up, appears to be a memory problem as I get a lot of paging, however I can still run brand new computer games without any problems. Have reinstalled my computer once and am still getting this problem any ideas??

Some of your video codecs have been deleted or "unassociated" due to the installation or uninstall of some program.

Try downloading the XP codec pack at http://www.free-codecs.com/download/XP_Codec_Pack.htm

Its a software conflict and you will never be able to localise the fault. Format the system and re-install the Operating System.
