I believe in live and let live, and I have friends and family members who are church-goers.
I have to say, though, that I do wonder about the reliability of people who believe in God. To me, it makes about as much sense as believing in the tooth fairy. I find it a little embarrassing when someone tells me they are a believer.
And I'm sorry, but I am always a bit wary about decisions made by believers e.g. at work. I know they are not working to the same agenda as me and I wonder if they are making decisions based on the real world or on what their God "told" them.
I'm sorry to be negative, but I think a lot of agnostics and atheists feel this way.
All the best anyway - it's a free country and you can believe in anything you like.

I'm sure people have their reasons for not liking religious people. I don't know what they all are, but they are. It is vary hard to let go and let God. I keep my mouth shut most of the time also. The fight is Gods not ours. I have found when God wants me to speak He gives me the desire and the knowledge at the time. Its a free world and anyone can believe what they want. Am I concerned yes, but I don,t cram scripture down peoples throat. You are rite , Each To Their Own.

I became a Buddhist about 5 years ago. When my workmates found out, I had the piss taken out of me for weeks. They assumed I was some sort of "Holy" monk and missed no opportunity to cast doubt on my new found beliefs, especially if i got annoyed or swore or generally indulged in Non Buddhist behaviour! What I'm trying to say is that people have pre-conceived ideas and prejudices. You can do nothing about these, that's life.

yeah, I know what you mean.
I guess it is because they have never been to church so they think that it is something that it's not & they judge it
from that. I like you only preach about it if someone
asks me something that relates to the bible or to how
God would what us to act. All I can say is that your
actions speak louder then words so show others
love & kindness & then they will want to know
more about you & how you manage to be that way.

If you read your Bible, you should know that Jesus referred to them kind of people on several occassions in the New Testament. Some of Jesus' referrals were:- They will hate you on account of believeing in me, you will be looked down upon, Persecuted, parents, relatives and friends will desert you............All this reactions are because they see your beig a christian as weird,un hinged e.t.c
However this shouldn't bother you. What you gotta do is pray for them so that they will see and know what you know. God bless

you say..
"if someone asks me my opinion then i'll give it otherwise I keep them to myself - I don't feel the need to preach!"
God's commands all Christians to spread His Word throughout the land. You are not supposed to "keep it to yourself".
God also tells us that people will treat us in the manner you are describing. Fair?..no.........but that is the world treating us like that. not God.
He has bigger plans for us. Stop keeping it to yourself!. Tell everyone who will listen about Jesus!
Let me say this, what if your best friend dies without Christ in his life and you had hundreds of opportunities to have told him.......but didn't.....
You say " to each their own".....this is true, but offer them the truth and let THEM decide what they want.
Good luck

Haha, I love the term Godbotherer. Was that originally from Terry Pratchett, or did he swipe it? Anyone know?
Anyway, I understand what you're saying. I'm *not* a Christian, but if I ask a question about God I end up with angry atheists telling me how stupid my religion is. I'm not sure if it's funny or sad...

Then what you have is religon, not a relationship.
Mat 10:32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 10:33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
A true chrisitan will do this because they WANT to not because they have to. It is part of their nature.
2Co 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

because people are more concerned about what other people are into, these people are very insecure and there way of releasing there pain, is to undermine others and insult others i think religion is a easy target for them, but in truth they are the people with the problem, it makes them feel better to have a go at others

Believing in God defines me.... Ever since I believed, I have been convicted. I don't care what people think about me because I love my relationship with God.
I will tell you, If it had not been for that Word of God, I would not know how to interpret dreams.
Knowing that language, defines me...... Knowing God, defines me!
If that makes me wierd, or stupid, or indifferent in their eyes, then call me what you want.... it wont change me.... I have surpassed that name calling crap!
Your sister,
Ginger
