Arm & Hammer came out with this stuff not to long ago and it works wonders....its made for homes with pets and all it basically is, is a static remover kinda. you spray it wherever theres pet hair..or any hair...wait about 5 minutes and then vacuum. just vacuuming wont get all the hair..but this stuff is really good. its in a orange colored can..in stores right next to the carpet freshner.

Jeez my husband and I got a little irritated and grossed out when our kid threw up on the carpet, but we never had him "put down" for it. No difference for a cat. If he's sick, take him to the doc! Many cats live past 20 years. 12 is a bit young to get killed over because your dad doesn't like the puke spots. $25 is how much it would cost your cat to get killed at animal control (locations vary). At my vet, it only cost $75 for a sick visit and meds. Weigh your options carefully. Remember, the vet can offer a payment plan if you can't afford the full amount at one time. EDIT: It sounds like your cat is an indoors/outdoors cat. They live about fifteen years. A cat who is exclusively indoors can live five years older, and an exclusively outdoors cat usually lives no longer than ten years (usually eight or nine). However, there is no set number for how long a cat will live. I do know for fact that the more your cat spends outdoors, the shorter the lifespan.

step1 - stick adhesive tape on the rug and remove it together with the cat hair
step 2 - prevent the Hair on the rug by washing the cat every now and then - every two months
step 3 - get rid of the cat and get another one whose color would match the rug color

I would first vacuum then use one of those rollers you run up and down your pant legs to remove lint. they have a handle and roll and on the roll is adhesive tape facing out. that's quick and easy
