I'm on 2 400mg of Carbamazaphine (Tegretol) tablets a day, and my question is:?

I took a tablet this morning then just over an hour and a half later I was sick (quite alot), so would the tablet have had enough time to get into my system? I am worrying now, because the doctor has said in the past if that happens NOT to take another tablet, but I'm worrying that I threw it back up.

Do you mean two 400mg or 2400mg? The latter would be a very high dose (although some people may be on up to 2000mg/day).
If you have been on the same dose for some time (weeks) and never had the problem of vomiting, the chances are that you are vomiting because of some other problem...perhaps a simple gastroenteritis or food poisoning.
Carbamazepine absorption after an oral ingestion can be highly variable and erratic, but the peak concentration in blood is reached usually after 6-8 hours. Nausea and vomiting are fairly common side effects, but in overdose, you would be worried about problems with your cardiovascular system and breathing as well as dowsiness. With long term use, it can also affect your body's electrolyte levels (especially sodium), and can give you nausea and vomiting as well as confusion, disorientation and even seizures.
Probably best to see a doctor if you are still feeling unwell.

i was on this medication for years and I don't remember being sick after i took one.
If you read the information sheet inside the box check out the long list of side effects, they are as long as your arm. The only side effect that I got with them was the occational head ache and feeling tired all the time.

do u take tablets at once? stomach takes time to dissolve them before passing to duodenum. probably it would have been done. was ur vomits taste unusual? if not its done.if so it doesn't mean u brought everything back. s don't worry much u`ll be OK. good luck..
