Having a friend join you is often the best way to make working out more enjoyable. Friends also act as a motivator when you start getting that 'I'll just skip a day' feeling. You should also consider checking out a few different workout tapes. There are numerous different styles and techniques out there and one might be more enjoyable for you. They all work, if you do them consistently.

Here's the thing -- it doesn't have to be fun. You have to be committed to the change. As you get more fit and drop the weight, you'll get more excited and want to eat better and better and look forward to your workouts more.
That said, it'll still suck a bit. Stop worrying about whether you'll enjoy it or not and just do it. Drop the weight and then slowly get back to something you can manage and sucks less.
Eat good foods. Get rid of "white foods" like flour (bread, pasta, etc.), sugar and candies, etc. Prefer veggies and fruits and nuts and seeds. Eat good fats - salmon, tuna, lean meats. Get plenty of protein - 1g per pound of bodyweight. Eat 5-6 times a day with a little protein, good fats, and good carbs in every meal.
Workout 3-6 times a week. Strength train with weight 3 times a week. If you're female you WON'T get big or bulky. It's not possible without chemicals or drugs.
Do total body exercises with weights that are challenging but not exhausting. If you can do 10 reps with an exercise, do 5 reps, rest a little, then 5 more, etc. Keep this up for 15 min. alternating with another exercise.
Here's an example of exercise pairs you can do
PAIR 1 - for 15 min. Alternate 5 reps of each. Rest as needed. As you get tired, do 4 reps or 3 or 2 or 1 and increase the rest.
squats
high pull
rest 5 min
PAIR 2 - like pair 1
bench press
lunges
"fun" will come from doing more and more reps total each workout. Push yourself and track what you do.
On days you don't strength train you can do 20 min of cardio.
Most experts cite a 2 pound weightloss per week as safe and healthy. Initially you'll probably lose much more and in fact a lot of people initially will lose 20-25 pounds in the first 4 weeks. It slows after that and 50 pounds can take 12 or even 14 weeks. Every body is different but the basics of good healthy foods and working out at universal.
Here's the thing - working out isn't about cool music or hanging out with friends. Especially fat loss. It's about "work". Get in, do the work, and get out. You don't need a lot of time. 20 min on days you use the bike or treadmill, etc. 45 min or do on days you strength train.
Set your mind, have some fun pushing yourself and seeing improvements. Eventually, your mindset will change because you'll look and feel better. Then, you'll probably enjoy working out more.
But initially, it'll suck probably. Doesn't matter - you have to do it.

Yep. I always alternate my routine, so it never gets boring. I bring my iPod to the gym the days I am just running/walking on the treadmill. And I'll throw in some fitness group classes as well. :)

You need to set a goal & stick to it.
Find a workout buddy, someone with the same goal & schedule, so the two of you can work out together.
Best of wishes to you.

I would:
try different tapes (I like dancing ones)
listen to music,
do different excercises,
and definitely join a class, a sport team, anything.
You can learn karate, or boxing, or basketball,
swimming, soccer, tennis, belly dancing.
Trust me, it can be fun.

Listen to some good music. When I'm working out and have great music to listen to, I forget how much I'm working out.
