The church of Jesus Christ is like a body, it is supposed to work together with one another with the overall objective of reaching all the people we can with the good news of Jesus Christ. It is like an army, not everone is on the front lines. On the front lines they are firing at the enemy, but how could they do that if no one was making the bullets. In the church some go out to serve, some pray, some study the Bible and teach the ones who are serving how to serve, some give money, some give time, some babysit the kids, some sweep the floor, some encourage, some look after the books and the finances, some landscape the church and rake the leaves. It all needs to be done. In the story of David in the Old Testament there was a story of a bitter battle that took place and when it was over the soldiers all worn out and bloodied came to divide the spoils of war and did not want to share any of it with those who did not go out to battle. King David ruled that those who stayed with the horses were to recieve the same amount as those who went out to fight, and that has been the rule of battle since that time. Problems come when you are forced to do things that you are not gifted to do.

This is just me, but I think that if you are living your faith, your life will tell people the truth about Christ.
Read 1 Cor 12 - each of us have different gifts, use yours and don't worry about anyone elses.
Take everything the preacher says and compare it with what the bible says - not using JUST the scripture given, but dig a little deeper.

No, it's not correct.
Your faith in Jesus Christ alone, asking him to be your Lord and Savior and accepting him into your heart is the only thing needed to be with him in heaven.
You should then wish to tell others what he has done in your life and what he can do for them, but this is not required to get into heaven. This is just a natural effect, just as a desire to study the Bible and pray are when you have Jesus in your heart.
Some may say that you are trying to push your religion on them but it is not true, helping others is not a bad thing and their is no better help for them than knowing Jesus.
God Bless..

You will go to heaven once you accepted Jesus as your Savior and Lord. But God also saves you for a purpose. You go to church and discover God's will for your life as you grow in knowledge of the Word, how He has gifted you for your service for Him and serve Him to earn your reward in heaven.

Were they quoting the verse, "If you do not confess me before men, I will not confess you before my Father who is in Heaven."?
Jesus did say this. I think it simply means that if someone asks if you are a Christian, you say yes. And if you do feel led to share your faith with someone, you are happy to do it.
It's not a threat as it is kind of a barometer to show us where our own heart really is.

That is not true. If you believe that Jesus Christ is your Lord and saviour, that he died for your sins and all that, you will go to heaven. No-one deserves to go, but Jesus made it possible for those who believe. By all means let people know you are christian, and show them how good your life is. Lead by example. Sometimes you don't even have to say anything. Someone sees how full of life you are, and wonder why. There's your chance to tell them. :-)

i will tell you this. being a christian does not obligate you to follow the teachings in the bible. being a christian means you have accepted jesus as your personal lord and savior. through that acceptance and that relationship you should be willing to follow what the lord taught. through his love you should be excited to share jesus with others. as christians we all bare witness, even unconsciously, through the way we live our lives, through our attitudes, people should see jesus through us. you dont have to throw the bible at nonbelievers to be a witness. you are saved and will go to heaven if jesus lives within you. remember christianity is not a religion of dos and donts, its a matter of acceptance through faith and life through love.

God's commands us through His Word to "spread the gosple throughout the world.
That also means your local area. It doesn't mean that you particularly have to go to the otherside of the world.
There is a mission right where you live.....
But , Yes, go and tell everyone who will listen! One more thing, all you're required to do is to tell them, you can't force them to listen..........The smart ones will hear you though

Did you mean serve the community? That is wrong for your church to say those things, loving , obeying God and following HIS law is the only way to get to heaven

No. What makes a Christian better than anyone else? Just because someone does not believe in something does not mean he or she does not have the right to enter heaven despite having lived a life full of good deeds. Ludacris.
