I'm currently having a problem with the two people that I am partnered for in grading. I can't stand them. They just won't co-operate. They even try to correct things that my instructor has told me, they deliberately go out of their way to anger me (or so it seems). I want to not grade just so I don't be with them any more I'm currently an Australian National Champion and I don't think staying down a term could be a disadvantage. But those two people are just making it to the point where I no longer enjoy class.

What should I do? I'm a very quiet person and I don't want to make a scene

P.S They have also in an act of frustration by throwing me into chairs.

Train by yourself to perfect your techniques.
Don’t do anything in your technique your instructor hasn’t required of you.

Martial arts development, especially in taekwondo is about character, so take this as a good lesson in patience.

I dont know what academy you are with, or even if it is an ITF or WTF class, but perhaps if it is one with several different classes or teachers you could attend at a different time or class.

I would not recommend you stay down an extra term, but I think you will find, that as it is early days yet in taekwondo for you, they may well leave soon, as the training gets harder they will be less willing to continue if they do not have the necessary character traits.

If you have a large class you could perhaps have a quiet word with your instructor after class, as there are three of you and the first blue grading drills are all in pairs, he or she may be able to ensure you are always partnered with a senior student instead.
It would definitely be of benefit to your martial arts for you to ask for this anyway.
Especially if you are showing natural aptitude it is almost essential you are paired with a student who has a greater or comparable ability, you will learn very little sparring with someone who doesn’t challenge you at all.
Equally, sparring with someone who is unskilled and or overagressive -(im sure you know the type) is a bad idea, it will be a waste of time for you and could result in you damaging a joint, finger, ligament or getting useless bruises.

If there are three of you and you are doing well in competition i would definitely have a word with your instructor about the pairing for your drills, it is such a simple thing and so easily fixed without dramas.

You might want to talk to your instructor about finding someone else to train with, or at least sit and talk with all three of you to find out the real root of the problem; because this can't be good at all for the morale of the class.

that's prob'ly your best bet, maybe somethin' can get worked out here.

Bring it up with your instructor, this is his Dojang and it's his responsibility for the students, so let him know what's going on.

If you are serious about your training blue belt is a great stepping stone as it lets you start training for destruction as well as continuous sparring.
