Have you tried st johns wart. You can pick it up from health food shops.

I was on celexa for just about a year. I did have a few cocktails when on the medication. The problem with drinking is that alcohol is a depressant. So by drinking you may be interfering with the effects of the Anti depressant you are taking. So be careful. Good luck with your depression. I have been off Celexa for 6 months now and i find exercise helps with my anxiety and depression.

There aren't any antidepressants that are safe to take while drinking. Talk to a pharmacist if you don't believe me. If drinking (even occasionally) seems anywhere worth the risk of stroke or seizure, you seriously need to question whether you are not an alcoholic. People who truly need antidepressants don't try to worm their way around getting better, and getting high.
As for the person who suggested you try Elavil... WHERE DID YOU GO TO PHARMACOLOGY SCHOOL?!?! Elavil carries some of the greatest risks when mixed with alcohol!!! Just walk up to any pharmacist, in any drug store, and ask them.

Most of the SSRIs are safe for drinking in moderation.
I was on Celexa (citalopram) for 4 years, and had no problems drinking in moderation. I just didn't drink the first 3 weeks, while my brain was getting used to it, then no problem.Some of thos other people are talking about those very 'old school' antidepressants. You can't drink on those old-timey ones, but the new SSRIs are fine.

There is no anti depressant that you can drink alcohol with at the same time. It is very dangerous thing to do.
