Budgies and all other birds have very sensitive lungs. Burning candles and incense is bad for them. Teflon fumes are bad for them. Air fresheners are bad for them. How bad do you think smoke, which kills people, is for them? Don't smoke around your budgies. Go outside. it will severely reduce it's life span if you do smoke around it.

smoke of any kind is bad for birds...be aware also of cooking with teflon coated pans...if they get too hot and start to smoke, a bird can die within minutes of being exposed to the fumes. if you are smoking in the same room with your budgie, you can expect it's lifespan to be reduced from 10-12 yrs to about 2-3 years. if you love your bird, you won't smoke in the house.

Second hand smoke is very toxic to people and to birds. Your little bird's lungs and heart will have to work overtime to process the toxins he'll breath in. You can figure on decreasing his life span significantly if he is exposed to the smoke. Can you smoke outside?

Because your budgie's respiratory system is super small, second hand smoke can definitely harm it. I would suggest smoking outside. Cooking with non-stick pans (with Teflon) can also harm your budgie, as well as any air/carpet freshner.

The pirate just scared me to get help to stop smoking cigs. I Don't want to lose my tiel. From other bird questioner's something just hit home, one questioner asked about their tiel yawning, I just looked at mine and realized when he does this he is probably gasping for air! Smoking does affect your loved ones!!

Open the window. Second hand smoke is not as dangerous as once thought. Please don't get your bird high. Happy Thanksgiving.
