He's trying to get laid.

"Date" is a relative term.

It sounds to me like a date, he probably got a flirty vibe off you when you said you'd split from your ex. When you go for the drink don't give anything away, act friendly but aloof and see how he's playing it. If the vibe is definitely flirty then it's a date.

It's a friendly drink. But depending on how it goes, he could be asking for a date next.

it's a friendly drink that could end up with you going on dates in the future.

I think it must be both going out as a friend and as a date...because he wants 2 be your friend and at the same time likes you...

if you want it to be a date, dress up for it and make it a date...he could just be looking for a good friend to hang out with and talk to (hence the texting and stuff). is he trying to get to know you with the texts....or giving compliments? it's probably a preliminary date...you'll know for sure if he is dressed up for you when you see him. if you want it to be a date, make it one...it sounds like you want it to be one, so go for it! dress in something sparkly that brings attention to the areas you want to flaunt....50% of all co-workers who date will end up married.....good luck
