She will likely have a blood tinged discharge for about a week, then the color of it will lighten to clear or yellowish for another week..that second week is the time that she can be bred..then another week until the swelling of the vulva goes down, and then she is safe to be out and about..If you take her out before, she will cause dog fights everywhere she goes..even after she is back home, her scent will be where she has been and the male dogs will be aggressive and hard to control..so it is best to keep her away from areas frequented by other dogs..
She will repet this whole 3 weeks, every 6 months or so for the rest of her life until she is spayed..

No worries - my breed is around the same size as a Cocker and most b1tches have their first season at around 7 - 8months, but I've had 2 who have been well after this, one was 13 months and the other 17 months. You will probably find she'll come into season as spring starts approaching.

A bitches seasons usually lasts 3 weeks, and no you should never take them out as you will have all the dogs in the neighbourhood following you and trying to get hold of her, you can have a ***** spade about 3 months after her first season so write down the date that is if it is what you want to do.

A bi**h is in season for 3 weeks it is in the 2nd week she will allow a male to have her so its best all round to kep her away from any males until the 3 week period is over it will be less stressful for her and you as its not great being followed by a pack of horny dogs who will fight for her and may even possibly attack you in the process good luck

I think they are on heat for about 20 days. She will want to mate about half way through her cycle, day 10 or 11, which she will mate for about 3 days.. No, dont take her out otherwise you will have every male dog in the neighbourhood following you!

if she is now bleeding, she has already been in season for a week. You need to wait for 10 days after bleeding stops before it is safe to take her out. You can book the spay for 3 months after the season has finished.

Oh my gosh..Dont take her out at all and please confine her to the laundry or her own back yard with supervision.
I just went through my first season with a papillon of 8mths and after 21 days I was pulling my hair out and the smell was eewwweee...
I ended up putting my female pooch in new born diapers for inside time at night to save the cleaning as she bled for 7 days but her smell was all over the house..
Lavender helped.. and disinfectant
After 21 days I took my girl to the vet and had her desexed as I will never go through that again.
My male dogs went physcio and us humans never got much sleep for about 10 days which was when she was bleeding and the smell drove our dogs and the other dogs next door mad because of the whinging and wimpering 24/7.
so yer dont let her outside and when she pees outside hose it down so the smell dosent go through the grass. the smell is yucky after a while
the poor male dogs went mad....
and she was no better..
so please for your own sanity and that of other male dogs keep her away if your not going to breed.

They are in heat for a total of 3 weeks. One week coming in, one week in and one week going out. You can take her out in the yard on a leash to go potty. DO NOT take her around other dogs or go for walks as her scent will draw every male in the area and you will have lots of problems.
DO NOT LEAVE HER UNATTENDED WHILE OUTSIDE.

need to read the breeder since '68, the others don't have a clue, the normal heat or average heat is 3 weeks, depending on the dog...
