You are confused. It's normal for a liberal. Don't let it bother you.
The 'Military' didn't loose in VN. The 'Military' doesn't bully anyone. It is the political leaders who who run the USA not the military.
The American fighting men and women in Viet Nam never lost a major battle. The war was lost by political leaders who lacked the will to win. (Fact Check #1: Kennedy and Johnson, Democrats, got us into Viet Nam.) Is it possible for Democrats to be bullies?
Fact Check #2: All over the world today, people owe their freedom to the American military. It was the American infantry man who freed Europe, Africa and Asia. After the war was over, it was the American dollar that rebuilt major parts of Europe. How does that fit with your 'bully' theme?
Fact Check #3: It is the American political leaders who act on the world stage in behalf of American interests. That's their job. Each and every nations leaders act in their nations best interest. So if you are sitting in France and Americans discover that the French have taken billions of dollars in 'Oil-for-Food' bribes from Saddam (Iraq's ex-leader) and you French are excoriated for your corruption. I suppose you might consider that bullying.
And in the future I suggest you provide a few facts with your allegations. Not that I expect them Liberals live in a world free of facts and full of allegations.

No that is wrong. Vietnam was not a conventional shooting war. Vietnam was a failed war of occupation against a country that had been a colony too long and had already forced two imperialist powers out(Holland and then France). They are having the same type of a problem in Iraq. They had no problem destroying the regular forces but they are unable to pacify the population and occupy the country.
It has very little to do with the media or with hippies, not now and certainly not in Vietnam. It is just not a winnable war. There is not even any idea of what a victory would be anymore. The definition has been changed often enough by the White House that it is no longer meaningful or even relevant. On top of that there is no face saving method of retreat. If the US leaves the country of Iraq will likely become a totalitarian fundamentalist Islamic Republic. or a group of sectarian puppets of the states around them and likely to be partitioned and annexed by those states. The best solution might have been to return Saddam to power, at least he was able to keep some semblance of peace and a functioning civil economy, even in spite of sanctions.
ps, I just love the state of denial that allows people to think that they won in Vietnam. The Vietnamese kicked butt, the USA lost. If the USA had won then why did Vietnam become a Communist country, with trade sanctions and USA trade embargoes that are still in place today? For those who think that the fall of Saigon was a victory you should take a look at this site and expand your reading from there.

No. USA can wipe out any nation on earth easy, its just that we lose the war in the media thanks to a bunch of tree hugging hippies.
After the Vietnam war, a few of the NVA generals were interviewed and they all agreed that, "we all knew that we couldn't win a conventional war against the USA. Thats why we aimed for the media.. and won"

You lacky brain cells wooky... American didn't loose in Vietnam. The people in the country didn't care to fight for themselves and South Vietnamese didn't care who was in charge of their lives. When the American people learned what was happening over their, they demanded to be out of the country and that's what happened. The same thing is going on right now in Iraq. The majority of Iraqi's don't care who is in charge and don't care if another Saddam comes in or not. Why should we? When we leave, another Saddam will take his place.

Actually, in Iraq the war was won in less than 3 weeks, it is the peace that is kicking our butts. Little did we know that the Iraqi's are violent nutcases who would rather slaughter each other than settle down, elect a government and live a peaceful life.
