I just asked a guy whom I like to join me for a group outing that I am invited by a good friend. I only know one friend from the group and he knows none. I thought it is a good chance to get to know him more in an unthreatening setting. Most importantly, I want to know whether the feeling is mutual.

He said he will tell me later. And I can't help second guess that perhaps I have all the while misunderstood his friendliness.

( I mean, wouldn't a guy show enthusiasm if the girl he interested in ask him out?)

Is it a subtle way to say he is not interested? (So I should get mentally prepared!) Or he really need to check his calendar?
Or what?

Well, you should wait and see. I think he is not sure about this relationship and he is working on it. so it would be better to prepare your self for both possiblities. If you are prepared then you won't be hurt.

Good Luck!!

As a guy, I won't feel enthusiasm for such group outing where I only know the girl. Unless she is my girlfriend or the girl I love.

Well I feel that he may have to check if he have other appointment before giving you an confirmation. Sometimes he may priority over certain matters over such outings. I wouldn't assume that he is uninterested until he tell you personally.

Tell him you've asked someone else...regardless of his answer. And actually DO ask someone else...of course. Screw him. { and I don't mean literally}. YOU still have your self-respect, and if he's interested?? He will come to you. Personally, I'd make him beg for it.
