I think it depends on what you are making the punch with, but personally, I wouldn't use tequila or whiskey, the flavor of these isn't the best "go-with" for punch ingredients. I would stick with rum, vodka, wines, champagne, or most any of the fruited vodkas would work well too. You want the whole flavor of the punch to "speak", not just have one ingredient "shout out", so go with something complimentary to the other ingredients.

Either Rum or Champagne for a fruit punch, Tequila or Whisky for a cream or milk punch

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup fresh lime juice
2 cups simple syrup
3 cups amber rum 4 cups orange juice
4 dashes bitters
freshly grated nutmeg

DIRECTIONS:
1. In a pitcher, combine lime juice, simple syrup, rum and orange juice. Add a few dashes of bitters and some grated nutmeg to taste. Serve chilled over ice.

2 tablespoons vanilla extract

Whisk the ingredients in a large bowl and pour into a glass pitcher. Chill in the freezer until the punch is slushy, about one hour.

Just before serving, pour punch into glasses (or even julep cups) and dust with freshly-ground nutmeg.

Both recipes are good

Dat wood be Rum mon...Yah mon!

The Jamaican's call it Rum Punch for a reason. Vodka is used widely and more often, but Rum gives the best taste and punch!

Vodka or gin if you don't want the alcohol to change the taste of the punch. If you want the flavour changed use sparkling wine or champagne.

I have made some very powerful punches just using the remains in any top shelf bottles in the cupboard.
