I was rearended ten days ago. About five days later my neck started to hurt, just a bit, and now it is really bad. Every day it is getting worse. The person who hit my car was ticketed and my car is damaged, going to be fixed by their insurance. I said at the time I thought I didn't have any injuries. But now I am really hurting. Will the insurers believe me? What do I have to do to prove I am hurting like hell? I don't usually go to the doctors if I can avoid it, but this is really painful. Normally I would just wait and see if I got better, and hope - but should I go to a doctor because this might be to do with the car wreck? What do I do about the insurance? It hurts a lot at the moment and it is so much to deal with. Any help or advice appreciated; I've never been in a car wreck before.

They will believe you, but the more time that passes between the accident and your treatment, the least likely they are to buy it. This is a soft tissue injury and in general, they tend to resolve without treatment within a few weeks. You have to decide what to do about treating based on how you feel. Every person and every claim is different, but in general, it will worsen in the first few days and then get better. There are a lot of passive treatments you can do yourself like heat/ice and anti-inflammatories/massage. I'm not a doctor, so you decide, but I've been rear-ended by a tractor trailer and felt pretty bad for about five days then was better, and I've handled a bunch of these claims in my life.

Call your insurance, and they will most likely have you go to the Dr. to be checked out, they will then do the rest for you...
They will believe you, since 9x's out of 10 people don't feel that they are hurt till 1 to 4 days later, when there hidrenalin has gone down from the stress of the accident.

You need to go to the Dr, its the only way and the longer you leave it the worse you will become., Be aware though soft tissue doesn't necessarily show up and is difficult to prove or disprove. Muscle relaxants, physiotherapy and strong pain medication were how I managed my whiplash until I found that regular visits for deep muscle massage and chiropractic alignment were all I needed to maintain a fairly pain free existence, I will never be better but I can manage the pain now...best wishes.

7 years ago I've been involved in a car wreck and even since suffered with severe on and off facial and jaw pain. I've tried almost everything western medicine had to offer and had visited countless of specialist, had done ct scans, and therapies but to no avail. The doctors I have been to had persisted that there wasn't anything wrong with me and that almost drove me crazy as I was going through hell from this condition. According to all my symptoms I was diagnosed by a holistic doctor as having TMJ and he had recommended this book to me. After following the recommendation in the book for several weeks, it had changed my life. I got immediate relief after following the unique set of exercises in the book and after 2 weeks the jaw and face pain had completely gone. I only wish I would have ordered this program years ago. It would have saved me a lot of pain and anguish.
