Have blister on face, earache, headache, swollen lymph nodes, what could it be? Doc said shingles or herpes?

I had white pustules-like blister on chin, one area, and then later developed an earache. I saw a nurse pract. and she said its not an ear infection. My lymph nodes are swollen, headache, fills like my ears will burst. I developed an increase in pain in ear four days after blister. I have oral herpes, colds sores, on lips. But never chin or this bad. She said it could be herpes or possible shingles??? Also, I was outside and she thought it could be poison ivy? I just feel like the earache is getting worse and I can't sleep. My jaw hurts as well. I recently had my nose pierced, but that is been over a week ago. I thought maybe it was taking recent baths since I have a tendency to get swimmer's ear, but no fluid in ear, etc. Just want the pain to stop and no help from doc? Any ideas...

Swollen lymph nodes indicate an infection. If I had to guess, I'd suspect the nose piercing caused a sinus infection. Further, I'd check into the rash being an allergic reaction to the metal in the jewelry. Just a thought.

In the meantime, to relieve your suffering with the ear pain, try applying heat to the area. Dampen a towel and heat it in the microwave, then lay your sore ear on the warmed towel. Nasal decongestants may also help relieve sinus pressure. Take Tylenol for fever and body aches. Go to see the doctor this time and tell him your condition has worsened. The LNP might have missed something or else you have a combination of ailments.

FYI: Herpes outbreaks occur either on or surrounding the mouth or in the genital region. Shingles occur most often around the waist, but have also been known to appear on the head and neck. They are normally red in color and quite painful. For more information, be sure to check out this site.

You sound as if you are suffering from an infection.
