It helps in about 70% of dogs. However, hyperactivity has recently been connected to feeding a kibble with high grain content, especially corn and/or wheat. Also artificial food coloring in the dog food.. Very often, dogs calm way down when fed a premium quality kibble with meat, fish or chicken as the first and second ingredients, such as Canidae, Innova, Solid Gold, Wellness, Natural Balance, etc..

It could calm him down but he is a puppy. Puppies are hyper a lot of the time. My suggestion is 2 fold. Put him in an obedience class and secondly, buy a crate and crate train him. And last , but not least give him plenty of exercise in the form of long walks at least 2x daily. Sounds like he is not getting much exercise. Catch the National Geographic show "The Dog Whisperer". Check out his website and get whatever info from there that can help

Good luck.

Get him desexed anyway, as it can help with the behavior and is much better for the dog's health. You will also have to work with your dog a lot, train him and keep him more occupied. Some dogs are naturally hyper. He could also be going through a stage. Some dogs are naturally more hyper when puppies or when they reash adolescence.

Not neccessarily it depends on the breed of the dog. I had a shepherd-husky and he was very hyper. He was neutered as a pup and he was still very hyper and still had those male instincts. Good luck

What sort of dog do you have? Sterilising male dogs usually will calm them down. However with some breeds the hyperactivity won't stop.

well as the other user posted, some breeds are just prone to being hyper.. I always thought nutering a male dog, calmed down his aggression, not hyperactivity..

It most definitely would. You must also consider what could be causing the hyperactivity. Sounds like he hasnt got enough to keep him amused. More toys. and definitely long walks with you. Foods without color and preservatives also very necessary, and much better for him too. Spend more time with him and work on training him to be more obedient.

Leather belt will suffice.
And don't be cruel, or I will cut off your testies!
