When the sunlight enters the Earth's atmosphere, it scaters. The light passes throught the molecules of gases in the air and scates. The only one colour that is visible to us most of the time is blue. During sunrise and sunset, the sunlight has to go through more atmosphere and the blue changes to reds, oranges and purples.

The sun sends different colored rays on air molecules but blue is the one that has the shortest wavelength. The shortest wavelengths are aborbed by the air molecules more. The air molecules move in all directions making the sky look blue. And that's a fact not a hypothesis.
