meow mix of course.. because cats ask for it by name

friskies just makes your cats fat and cost out the wasso for the same thing.. give them canned food every so often for a treat..

my cats eat special kitty (wal-mart) brand because money is tight right now but they prefer meow mix over friskies

I'll give you the bad first. The best way to rule out bad food from good is check the ingredients. If it has corn in it, it's complete garbage. Corn is a cheap filler that boosts profits. Ingredients are listed in descending order. If an ingredient is listed first, that means it has more of that than anything else. Most commercial dog and cat food has corn as the first, second or third ingredient. Outrageous. Just because a cat loves the artificial flavors that are pumped into the big name brands, doesn't mean the food is healthy. Those companies spend a ton of money to fake out pets so they'll beg for garbage. Avoid products with an endless list of chemicals that would take a chemist to decipher. Among other things some of that is addictive agents to make your pet crave it. Legal but outrageous. Price tag isn't the best gage either. It's often just a marketing ploy to get the pet-owner to think we're getting something special. Meat meal and meat byproducts is ground up slaughterhouse waste that they shovel off the floor. Now the good. (It's short and easy.) A good food must have plain old meat. Preferably more than one type for balance. Vitamins. Minerals. Plus ingredients that the manufacturer tells you specifically what they're for. No mysteries. EDIT NOTE: E.L.L.Z., your post is awesome. Sing it, Sister!!!!

Both Friskies and Meowmix are low quality cat foods. Natural Choice or Pro Plan!

buy a food that is all natural or organic and has no by products. Felidae is just a few pennies more than meow mix or friskies but it's much healthier. Kittie's stomachs are sensitive so be careful!

neither is a good food. Read the ingrediants. The food you buy your cat should NOT have Corn in it at all. Also don't buy food with by-product listed. Meat should be the first 3-5
ingredents in the food. If you wouldn't eat it, don't feed it to your cat. I recomend Royal Cainan or the pet Smart brand called Authority. Wellness and Nutro are also good brands. Meow Mix Market Select is a good canned food. No by products and my cats eat it.

NEITHER. And btw, science diet and iams are crap too, read the ingredients. You should never feed your cat anything that contains corn or animal by-products in its first 10 or 15 ingredients.
I feed my cat Natural Balance and it is wonderful. It is also not all that much more than a bag of any of this other stuff listed, and will save you a lot of money in the long run on vet bills. The quality is not even comparable.

We feed our cat Precise http://www.precisepet.com (it's only a dollar more than a bag of Purina). He really loves it.

The best advice that I can give you is check the ingredients label. Don't buy cat food that has by-products in it. The by-products can be any part of the animal (beaks, feathers, feet, etc.). You wouldn't eat that, so why should your cat! If you want a happy, healthy cat, make sure that they're eating properly!

go to http://www.onlynaturalpet.com they've got a lot of high quality cat food.

Neither. You need to feed something premium. Yes, it's expensive, but worth it. I feed my 2 cats Eagle Pack Hollistic Select with oatmeal in it. It has fish and anchovies in it and they love it. I have 2 very picky cats and I give them fancy feast once a week as a tret and they love it! Seriously, don't buy any cat food or dog food from Wal-mart or any grocery store. Go to a pet store that sell premium food. Your cat will love you and be very healthy!

neither.I feed my cats Science diet yes its about 20 to 25 a bag but it does wonders for their coats ,teeth and bones. Feeding your cat "junk food' is just the same as you eating at mcdonalds everyday. Its not good for you.
