The Dutch have proposed a law that will ban muslim clothing in Holland/Netherland.

I think this is discrimanating! Then they should also ban
nun's-clothing and monk's-clothing and any other religious clothing!

I am not sure what 'muslim clothing' means. If it is hijab (not covering the face), then it is absurd. And the solution cannot be ban monks' and nuns' clothing as well. Nothing should be banned in this case and the law should not be passed.

If it is niqab (covering the face), I can understand this for the security of the society if no mechanism can be put in place to secure things with niqab (as it covers the identity of the woman).

Peace

nun and monk clothing are not worn by citiziens but by members of the Church/Monastery. The Netherlands have not banned Imam clothings but citiziens wearing muslim clothing because wearing it can cause discrimination just like wearing a huge cross around the neck. I think this law is pretty useful, it will reduce the discrimination problems among people in a multicultural country. The Netherlands government is not to blame, we are. They're doing this for the protection of a problem we projected on ourselves -- Religion wars.

One of the loads of examples where muslims are oppressed, and not allowed to live their religious life , i think they are just afraid of islam and trying to disturb them by passing these kind of unjust laws.ahh why would they ban nuns and monks?? well if they were muslims then there was a possiblity that they would have been banned but not being non-muslims. This is totaly injustice !!! everyone should be given freedom to practise their religion, 'Live and let everyone live'

Edit : so according to you calculations Mr.Uspman !!!! all american nuns should be banned because of American killings of innocents in many parts of th world???

And miss 'trust the jesus' i m living in muslims country and here all christains are allowed to wear their religious dress, and they are free to practise thier religionn , no one ever bother them.

If it is true,t yes he Dutch government makes a discrimination among their people and foreign people who will go to this country.
Why there should be a law for regulating the clothing only for a certain religion followers. It is unfair and against with the fredom
principles.Although muslims in Netherland is minority they should be treated well by freeing them to use their clothes especially for muslim women that should wear a covered jilbab for their heads and necks. down to their breasts. They did not know that covering all her privy for a woman is the instruction from Allah the only one God..Uncompulsory is a great sin for women..

the cartoons are a totally other topic.... and so is freedom of speech even if we dont like what we hear

the whole religion clothing/jewelry ban finds most europeans and the world i have to mention not agreeing with the goverments.

people of all religions are agreeing to take to the streets to protest the movement.

the thing is that they hide behind the fact that they want to enforce the ban on places like schools etc. (muslim kids wear no head covers, christian kids wear no crosses etc)
so they can protest the need to protect these people and to achieve equal treatment for all (have heard politicians lobby for this and this is their main point)

in general politicians must understand that the world needs tolerance and education, not to blend us all into a eurotrash mix

Mustafa, are you out of your mind?
A. The cartoons you're mentioning came from Denmark, not Holland.
B. You're suggesting the eradication of a nation of people? Because you find them objectionable?

On to the original question, I'd have to know more about the situation to comment fully, but on its face this seems to be a regretable situation and seeming breach of civil liberties.

Yes, if they're going to ban Muslims religious form of dressing, then Nuns & priests, bishops & the like should all be forbidden from wearing their religious clothing.
Again I say, democracy is just a word people use when it suits them.

I agree. It angers the men that muslim women have self respect. They hate that more than anything because muslim women won't let them see their figures. I have had two children, and I weight 125. My son is 9 months old. I have "fiery" red hair and white skin. Before I converted, I had passes made at me all of the time, so you know I must look good. It irritates the heck out of them that muslim women know that what they have is priceless and that to display it cheapens it and kills the mystery.

I agree to you ,only because Muslim women don't show off their skin and figure so you are forcing them to but Allah will show the way and He is the one who will protect.Who the hell are the Dutch to interfere in laws of Allah. They are just snatching away the modesty of Muslim women. They should leave that country at once.
