I am going to get another pit bull. a girl, as a playmate/packmate for my T-Bone (Want to see a pic? go to http://www.myspace.com/1000250856 you have to wait a bit he's about in the middle of the slide show) But I have two options. My husband has a friend who's b i t c h is having her last litter, and he said we could have the pup, for free. But today I found out a friend is giving away her 2 year old pittie, because she's becoming an outdoor dog, and when they move back to the states she'll have even less time for her, and she wants a better life for her than that. I took T-Bone over to meet Jayde, and they got along ok... so, what do you guys think? Puppy or Jayde? (p.s. Jayde is already fixed)

We're lucky, pitties are actually a favored breed around here, people see them for who they really are, not the hype...

Actually, I've never had a small puppy... T-Bone came to us at 5 months with all the hard stuff already taken care of. He's *my* first dog, though my husband (deployed right now) had always had multipule dogs.

Actually I'm lucky in that department, Even though she's older Jayde is submissive to T-Bone, and we are overseas on-base, so the vet isn't very expensive at all

I say the older dog. As I'm sure you know puppies are hard work! It's also really hard for older dogs to find good homes. Specially pitbulls! If they got along ok I would say go for the older dog! No questions about it! Your friend may have problems finding a good home for her. The friend with the puppies should have no problem finding them a home! OLDER DOG!

Get Jayde.
T-Bone would probably enjoy a friend/mate that is around his age. He probably won't feel as jealous as he would if you got a puppy because puppies need a LOT more attention than older dogs do.
Do you know if your friend (who breeds Pits) is in the breeding business? Are the dogs temperament tested, screened for ALL hereditary health problems? Probably not if she doesn't breed professionally. The pups might not be as healthy. At 2 years old, all her shots would be up to date so you wouldn't have to spend hundreds of dollars on vaccinations. She is already fixed so again, you will save money.
If you have the time, money and patience for a little puppy; AND you think T-Bone will get along with the little pup (who will need more attention than him), then by all means - go for the puppy.
What will your friend do with Jayde if she doesn't go to you? Will she be left in a rescue shelter? What if she never gets a home?
I hope you make the right decision =)

Well you have to think about what your options are. Pit Bulls have a really high energy level and you need to be sure that you can match their energy level. Also, even though you want a playmate for your current pit bull, you have to take into account the idea that your current pit will assume dominance over the new dog, and a 2 year old might have trouble socializing with the old dog. a puppy will automatically submit to an older dog, who will be a blank slate that you can teach from puppyhood. Naturally, this has to be your decision. But remember this: the worst thing you can do is adopt an older dog, and then give it up again. weigh carefully your decision. Either way, your vet bills will be high.

Please take the older dog, its so hard to find a good home for older dogs and you sound like a dog lover, so she will be happy and well looked after.
You know what your getting if you take Jayde. If you get a puppy it could turn out to be a nightmare.

Older dog. You don't have to go through the housebreaking or the chewing phases. Jayde has already been spayed and her temperment is known. And if she gets along with your dog, then I don't see why they couldn't be pals.

I'd take the older dog. So many dogs get sent to shelters, never find homes and are ultimately killed because people would rather a cute little puppy.

It depends what you want. An older dog relaxes more, is more quiet and settled whereas a puppy is excited, jumpy, yippy and gets awfully sad when you leave him alone. I'd personally rather an older dog, to give it a time to remember before it passes away.
