who so ever says talaq is the hindi word for divorce needs to understand the difference of hindi and urdu (pls.consult some good hindi dictionary). the concept of divorce does not belong to indian soil though it's a very common practice these days. So, there's no specific word for divorce in hindi but if u want to translate divorce in hindi then u can say it is Vivah Vichhed ( where vivah means marriage and marriage means separation).

There is no proper word in Hindi for this as the Hindu darshan shows no provision of separation, once married , means married for ever, or atleast seven births,
Actual Hindu marriage is comparising of three marriages,
1. Gandharva Vivaha - Jaimala sthanantaran
2. Dev Vivah - Havan & other Pooja with fere around agni
3. Manushya Vivah - Mangal Sootra bandhan or sindoor bharan
Once a couple is tied, then no chance of separation. Simply see that both vow to be with each other till life, & only they can leave each other at the sanyas ashram ( at 75 yrs of age), just on the way to God/ Salvation.
SO DEAR NO VIVAH VICHCHHEDA, this is only a hindi translation created to match the divorce in english.
