It will depend on his weight. Take his body weight in pounds and divide in half, that will be the upper level of the number of oz. of water he should drink. 1/4 of his weight in pounds is the lower level of how many oz he should drink.

Realize that he does get some water from drinking milk, eating fruit, etc, so don't get too worried about him dehydrating. In warm weather when he is sweating you will want to have him drink more.

If you have him drink too much late in the day it will make bed wetting more likely. So try to get in more water right after he wakes up and less before bedtime and nap time.

Just offer him a drink every hour or so. If he drinks fine, or not, fine. He'll let you know if he is thirsty.
