When I was a child, I had to tag along with my mom... But now I go to hear the lies that are spoken, that way I know what I am dealing with and can write about it.

I was when I was living in my parents house. Even now, at 40 years old, my dad will still ask me if I'm going to church every once in a while. We do go to church, but it's a different kind of church than my parents would pick for us, so I just tell them Not like you'd like me to, and leave it at that.
WHen I was still living in my parents house, I had to deal with their rules. I wasn't a PK, but I had a few friends that were. I know that's a tough position to be in. If you aren't at church every time the doors are open, then your parents probably feel like it makes them look bad, esp if he's a new pastor.
I'm not sure how old you are, but if it makes you feel better, just about everyone's parents have some rule or another that they can't wait to get away from.
When you have your own place, you will be able to make your own rules. Until then, you're kind of stuck following the house rules of your parents. It's something most of us go thru.
I used to take a book and put it in my bible and read it during church.

You are all younger than me and chafing to live life. Well, life goes by fast and there is a lot of good advice in the Bible. If you want to debate with those who force you ask them about Matthew 6: 1-8, which literally quotes Jesus as saying you shouldn't go to church or "show off" your faith. Some will say this was for the Pharisees only but many believe that the Bible is the "literal word of God". The only way to learn to love God and others is through conversation, not listening to Dictators. Question authority and listen but don't resort to all out rebellion.

Yes, I was forced to go to Church as a child and teenager. It was a Catholic Church. I was a typical teenager who didn't want to go, but as I got older I realized how grateful I am that I was forced to go because I learned to believe in God at a very young age and have never had a doubt that He exists. I no longer follow the Catholic faith, as I have some issues about the Catholic religion, but instead I am a born again Christian and follow the Holy Bible now.

YES! Welcome to the club, pk, that's preachers kid and we never stop being one. One of our fellow PKs committed suicide just before he graduated from High School, another one went gay and another became a sex addict. I gave the sex addict a raffle ticket for a Hummer, she gave it to a lady friend who had no money who then won the Hummer! I believe in Jesus as the son of a loving God, just not one that damns everybody. I have seen too many people who damn themselves for God to be involved. I recommend that you put up with it, join the choir, and get involved in everything church related, its fun and the networking is wonderful. Again, welcome! By the way, I'm 59 and will be home with both my parents for thanksgiving.

i was until im too old to drag. just bear with it... until you're ready to tell your dad that you dont believe in his religion. it also saves his face, in a way. to have the whole family in church. esp now that he's the pastor.

I used to feel forced.... Everytime that door opened, we just had to be there.... oh... and don't try backing out....You'd better tell mom you're going to another church and you'd better be ready to prove it, too!!!
Sunday (2 services).... Wednesday (1 service).... and sometimes Saturday services.....
Oh man..... All I need is the word.... I don't need church for it!
Oh.... and I have a young fellow that works with me whose father is a pastor....... and he does not believe in Jesus, either..... Now, this fellow beleives in aliens and ghosts, but not in God...... But, he respects his father.......
Your sister,
Ginger

No fortunately. I'm the sort of person that's too strong willed to do anything i don't want to anyway. I cant see the point in making people believe in something they don't want to. It will just cause resentment and rebellion in the end.

Oh me me me, I was. Christian school and church so the only day off I had was Saturday. Now I have huge letters that say LOST SOUL tattooed across my stomach to celebrate my freedom from the fundamentalist dogma that I grew to hate. Fundamentalism literally tore my family apart.

Never have been personally but my husband can relate. He grew up with a Methodist Minister as a father. You'll get old enough that you can say no. Until then, there's not much you can do.
