I know I have rights, that I do not HAVE to fight in any war, I can be a consicentious subjector or something. bascially the govt tricks you into having to join the draft. Can Anybody Help Me With This? any info? websites? I WOULD BE VERY GREATFUL FOR ANY HELP.

I don't care if it's not really likely that the draft will be reinstated, i still want to be prepared.

If I don't believe in the war, whatever the war is about, I shouldn't have to go. I supposedly have freedom in this country. at least they should allow me to leave this country, I HAVE RIGHTS, more than you probably think I do, no offense.

Don't believe the hype. There is not going to be a draft. There is only one nutjob who wants it,and thats Democrat Charlie Rangel. The dems just took back the senate, and the house, and they're not going to screw it up by reinstating the draft, and if for some reason they decided to commit political suicide, Bush would still veto it. It's just one nut trying to stir things up,don't worry about it.

First, I don't think the government is thinking of reinstating the draft, at least not all that seriously.

In the news today, it said that one congressman -- Charles Rangel of New York, a Democrat -- was calling for a draft.

But, Charles Rangel is just one congressman. He's not "the government."

By the way, his reason WHY he wants the draft back is ridiculous. He says it's because then, the government will be less likely to send our troops into war if they have sons being drafted.

This fails to explain why we had a draft in place from 1941 to 1976, and during that time the US was involved in three major wars -- spanning a total of at least 20 years.

If a draft didn't prevent us from entering World War Ii and Korea and Vietnam, what makes Rangel think a draft will prevent us from entering necessary wars nowadays?

The draft will NOT be reinstated. Nancy Pelosi & Steny Hoyer have put your concerns to rest just this week. That is not a part of their agenda, at all. However, if you are worried about the draft coming, go to www.firstgov.gov If you have a proven medical condition, that would be a way out. At the FirstGov website, find the search engine & look for information regarding military drafts.

No your wrong. If the govt. where to re-instate the draft It is your obligation as a man in this country to pick up arms and defend it. There are very few exceptions to this seeing as they are removing the college exemption. The only option would be jail or flee the country. You and people like you are what brought this country to its knees. I cannot believe that you would rather stay at home and allow an enemy to kill your friends and family, than take a noble risk and fight back. It is what our forefathers, grandfathers, and peers have done to protect America. Suck it up and be a man!!!

You can be a consientious objector, but you have to prove your sincerity. That means you would need to join the Quakers etc. now and be an active member of a congregation, not have an instant conversion after you get your draft notice.

BTW-The draft talk is so much masturbation-it ain't happening.

Roy is correct. This is ONE INDIVIDUAL making a statement. He believes that the politicians of this country committed an injustice when they voted to send troops into war, but did not send their own children. He believes that it is impossible to support the war and/or our troops and oppose the draft. He's just making a political statement.

They are NOT... that is a LIE you are being told to scare you. They cannot re-instate the draft when they are STILL turning away volunteers and booting people out for stupid junk like being a couple pounds overweight. Don't believe the hype!

Ok, if you don't care if its not likely... get yourself wayyy overweight. You'll have health problems... but hey... they kick people out for being too fat, so why would they draft one?

Pay someone to go in your place. It has been done in every war where there was a draft.

They can't make you shoot a gun but they sure can strap one on you and put you in the middle of a war zone. Lets see how long before you shoot that rifle.
