Not ALL religious people are as dogmatic as your ex. Baptists however are some of the most extreme and rigid. I live with someone of a different religion and we get along fine because neither of us expects the other to conform to our presumptions of what is correct or not correct. We accept each other. Thats the basis for every relationship there is.
You got away easy, and you should be glad it didnt last longer.

Yes we are. You either believe the bible is the word of God or you don't. If the answer to that question is yes, then you treat the teachings of the bible appropriately and you do not take it likely. By the way, most christians, myself inculded, do not act Christ like. We are not perfect, just forgiven. The key is to keep trying to live life according to the word of God and never give up even if you fall down. It's a marathon, not a 100 yd dash. In regards to your question, GOD says in the bible not to marry outside the faith because then your off spring (who the Lord refers to as His children) may worship false gods (the other parents religion). He says this in the book of Exodus and Leviticus

To not date over such silly differences is kind of strange. Opposites attract, it is good to have some things in common. But just because an other does not belive in the same thing you do does not make a reason for people to break up. Sorry but it sounds like you both are religious freaks.

Some are.....It actually sounds like incompatible personalities too.
Some folks seem to take the bible literally but refute anything with supporting visible evidence that might not follow word for biblical word.
Be grateful you split up before the kids came along!

Let's face it she's holier than you. Anytime you get mixed up with a Baptist she'll be holier than you, that's part of the Baptist religion, to be holier than other people. For one thing they are saved and they got a free pass on Judgment Day, whereas you don't. Yes, it's sad, but what's a Catholic to do.

No, not all. I know a Catholic who is my best friend. He doens't even go to church, though. Some are loopy, but you get that in every religion. I'm a muslim woman. I have friends of all religions and ethnicities. We even discuss religion at times. I've learned from them, they've learned from me. Personally, I think that kind of marriage would be troubled. Take it from somebody who has experience with culture shock.

I'll have to agree with her on the reincarnation deal. Catholics and Baptist's are both Christians.

There is that narrow mindedness that christians are so good at, and it has destroyed a relationship.
I had a friend, a Buddhist, who married and ex catholic priest. He left the priesthood to marry her. He is still a devout catholic and she is still Buddhist and as far as I know (Ihaven;t seen them for a while) they are still together
