I never understood hair codes or even some dress codes. I definetly don't agree with school uniforms in public schools. I can understand having a code for indecent clothing that shows way too much of a persons anatomy. Or even t-shirts with offensive language or sayings. But other than that, the kids should be allowed to show their individuality in other ways, such as hair and make-up. After all, what has appearences have to do with the process of learning? Do kids who have spikes in their hair learn less? I somehow doubt that.

No, it's just hair. You should be able to have whatever kind of style you want. If anyone has a problem with it then maybe they should be reminded that there are more important things to worry about in life than what this kids hair looks like.
