Why do followeres of most religions look to the sky when they pray?

I mean if we came from mother earth shouldn't we been looking down on earth when we pray?

Because most followers of religion who pray in that way have no respect fo mother earth, or anything female. They worship the patriarchal sky daddy. More's the pity.

That's because heaven is up in the 7 levels of the sky (which means above 7 levels of the universe)

But most Muslims I know pray with their eyes looking down on the prayer mat or eyes closed (as if fearing God). No one actually looks up searching for God. They do however open up their hand in prayer (as if receiving) from Allah.

It is the best place after all. Where else would the Highest Being be anyway if not high up above us?

Many religions have deities that reign from the sky, and thus look toward them during prayer. Some belief system that have deities that are "above" the earth look down as a sigh of humiliation in the face of those deiteis, a sign of unworthiness, others as a sign of respect.

The fact is that, while we are child and mom is feeding food to us by saying some god stories, mostly they show up to say that god is in sky,heaven which is in sky. And so the mind is set just like that for a kid while praying god they just look up. By the days goes, they are trained like that to pray god.

If you belive that you like praying by looking down. Do it. Pray it the way you belive. But people also say like when you look up the god and pray, you come up in life and they do also belive that if you look down, you go down in life. But i feel it has nothing to do.
IF you think god is down there. Look down and pray.

most religions actually do not look at the sky . but mostly straight ahead or towards the object of worship . the two exemptions being sun worshipers and moon worshipers.
ofcourse the object or the speaker is usually higher then the rest in a congregation so they have to look up .
in some congregations they look towards the sky because of the concept of God being in heaven and heaven being higher somewhere in the skies.

When you make up a story, you look up and to the right. That's actaully what your eyeballs do, when your brain is engaged in making something up. Because those who made the relifions and tauht the reliious priciples , thought ha he God's were living in he sky and tha when they look up into the sky the Gods would e seeing hem offering prayers to them. may be perhaps people thought tha he Gods who made all the universe ad all the beings thre in were dying for prayers o be offered by somebody.Becuase man made the

Those who are below must necessarily look up and those are above must necessarily look down only. since we ae below , we liik up and he Gods who are above will look down below !
