I'm a muslim, a convert from Christianity (20 years ago). Christians believe that Jesus (PBUH) died by crucifixion & then was raised into heaven.
Muslims of course believe that he was NOT crucifed, but a look-alike was put in his place & Jesus (PBUH) was taken up to Heaven by Allah (God).

First a lesson.
Muslims claim that Abraham had only one son that being Ishmael, the BASTARD (technical term, look it up) son of Abraham and Sarah's handmaid, Hagar.
Therefor Muslims cannot, by extension even believe Christ existed, not the Christ that was historically alive (which happens to be the Christ of the Bible)
Christ came to the JEWS, not the gentiles (ALL people who were not Jews). He was a prophet in a very real sense as he spoke what God told him to speak, and it included that only Christ was the way to heaven (contrary to Muslim theology) and therefore he could not be a prophet to the Muslim people, unless a false prophet is a prophet, nonetheless.
Jesus acknowledged that the JEWS, descendants of Abraham's only LEGITIMATE son, Issac. The Bible teaches that a bastard has NO inheritance from his father, so the people from Ishmael could not be the promised people that God told Abraham would come from his seed.
This Jesus (the Christian Jesus) died for the sins of all mankind (even MOST will reject that payment for sin and therefore they will die in their own sin) and rose again, triumphant proof that he had the power to conquer death.
This same Jesus ascended into heaven.
This is the Christian doctrine of Christ and Christ's claim of who he was (the seed of Abraham).
These doctrines, taught by Jesus as he walked the earth, are in direct conflict with Islam and therefore the claim that Islam accepts Christ, as a prophet is not and CANNOT be true, for if he was a prophet to them, they MUST abandon their faith and convert to Christ.
They won't, so for them he is not.

We've never had to wonder. The Bible tells us that He was crucified, in fact Jesus foretold that He would die, and then be lifted up. He also said that He had authority to lay down His life and take it up again and this is exactly what He did. He humbled Himself allowing Himself to be tortured to death then after being laid in a grave, on the third day by the Jewish calendar, He rose again and met with many of the saints. Some He touched, many He spoke to, some He even ate and drank with. Afterward, He was raised up into the heavens in bodily form.

By Gods Holy Spirit HE was raised from the dead, and after being seen by more then 500 people HE ascended back into Heaven to sit at the right hand Of God. That is why there is no body, HE defeated death, Hell and the grave.

Jesus died, and three days later He was resurected, and went up to heaven. Jesus was not a prophet, Jesus is God, period.
