There is no 'built-in-function' to restore windows 98 to a previous date, like the XP feature. However, there are ways of restoring the registry.
98 saves backup copies of the registry in the Windows/SYSbackup folder. At the command prompt you can type scanreg /restore to restore your registry to a previous date.
This method is commonly used to restore a system with a corrupted registry.
If you simply wish to go back to a certain configuration, you might have to un-install and re-install programs manually.

Your pc should have come with a "Quick Restore." CD. I had one for my windows 98. Just put it on and follow directions and it would bring pc back to the day you got it.
The only other way is to go through "regedit," and you need to be really computer savvy to do that.
Good Luck

you reload the original CD and lose all your files you didn't back up. that was why they moved to xp and I'm sure that's why they will move to vista. i might just buy a mac, i am growing tired of Microsoft's little world.
