Know if you need to lose weight

Health specialist use a measure called BMI, short for Body Mass Index. Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women. This gives a good measure of your total body fat. BMI compares your height and weight. It shows if you are underweight, at a healthy weight, or overweight.

You know how many pounds are there in 1 kg. Do not know let me help you, it is 1 kilogram = 2.20462262 pounds. Check out what your BMI is by using the BMI calculator.

http://www.cdc.gov/nccdphp/dnpa/bmi/adult_BMI/english_bmi_calculator/bmi_calculator.htm

BMI Category
Below 18.5 Underweight
Between 18.5 - 24.9 Healthy Weight
Between 25 - 29.9 Overweight
Over 30 Obese

Look at the BMI chart to find out how much weight you need to lose to move from obese to overweight or from overweight into a healthy range. Knowing this can help you set a good weight loss goal.

Don't pay attention to calculators that tell you that you're over or under weight. There are factors that they do not consider, such as your underlying build. A typical calculator will tell me that I am over weight but I have little fat and a tone body.

Health-wise, I wouldn't worry about being over or under weight.

As for people telling you to eat more... Eat when you are hungry. Eat until you are full. I know a lot of skinny people that eat a TON of food and still get the whole "you need to eat more" thing. Ignore it. Just keep your tummy happy.

If, however, you are thinking less health-wise and more attractiveness-wise. Then you might want to consider building some muscle tone.

To be honest you are skinny
I'm 5ft 1/2inch & most of my life I was 50 kg & now I'm a little heaver but still not overweight or fat so you are thin at 50 kg & 5 -4 tall a little more won't hurt you

You are a little underweight.

Check out this calculator on Shape Magazine's site - http://www.shape.com/tools/calc/ideal/.

There is also a tool for finding out your Body Mass Index (BMI), too.

You could do strength training (lifting weights, or using resistance rubber bands) to gain muscle.

Pilates to tone.

Yoga to increase flexibility.

Cardio to work your heart and lose body fat.

What are your fitness goals? And there is more to health than the number on the scale!!

Good luck!

You're in the healthy weight range, at the lower end, but still fine. The only thing that isn't great about being at the lower end of the scale is that it only takes one tummy bug to hit and you look too thin. You could put on a couple of kilos if you think you look too skinny, but health wise you sound perfectly fine.
