Depends on who you ask.

According to contemporary scientists the earth is somewhere between 4 and 5 billion years old many putting the figure at or around 4.5 billion.

There are those in the religious community, Christians mostly, that are of the view that the earth is something lke 6 to 10 thousand years old. This comes from their using calculations based on biblical references to the ages of persons in the bible, their geneaolgies, and other factors.

I am of a mind to take the larger number...there is too much scientific evidence to support it over the other.

i am sad at the number of people choosing to ignore 3 branches of science which say that earth is 4.5 billion years old. that's what I'M going with. when it comes to describing the natural world, use science. when it comes to your spirituality, consult religion.
