how long should i microwave a hotdog for?

I'd try 30 seconds at first and see if its hot enough. If it's not try 10 seconds at a time til it's ok.

The length of time in the microwave is depending on how many watts is the power of yr oven...!!
First of all you need to sting the hotdog's pellicle in different points with a fork (just to avoid it breaks too much),then put in yr microwave for at least 1 minute and check if it's done. If not put it again in for further 15-20 seconds. That's what I'm doing but I don't know if here in Italy we have the same type of microwaves or power as you've .I hope so to get the 10 points. Wrap it in a paper towel and microwave in 10-30 second intervals until desired temperature is reached. Anything more than a minute in my microwave makes it split wide open!

Okay. My favorite hot dogs are Boars Head hot dogs. I like to cook them in the microwave until the split down the middle. I would say to leave it in the microwave for about 1-2 minutes.

I use 45 seconds (1000 watt oven). You shouldn't have to poke holes in it if it is a good quality 'dog'. If it explodes, you've got too much water or fat in it and not enough meat !
