try junior or community colleges. admission is usually just an application fee. classes are usually cheap. and at some of these schools the teaching is actually pretty good.

you would want to start with English as a second language courses. I live in Florida so these are taught nearl everywhere. I don't know where you are located but if it is a state with many immigrants like a Florida or Texas, California, or New York then you should be able to find classes easily.

While doing the first semester you could probably take a basic preperatory English classe with English as a Secondary Language 1. Then, during a second semester you could take English as a Secondary Language 2 and maybe an Engliah Literature class to study some writing. If there are any more Engliah as a Secondary Language do those and also try to find a conversational Engliahs class

Watch TV, listen to the radio and read a book or an article over and over and over again. If you don't know the meaning of a word, find it, learn it and read the article again--try to memorize the meaning and make several different sentences using that very word. This will take a long time, but it is the most effective and productive way of attacking it. I was there one day too and I still do the same (at least try to). Good luck.

Are you in China or an English country? In China there are many English as a second language classes you can take, and in English countries there are quite a few ways to learn English better. Good luck.

the best way to learn any language is by practicing daily. it's better to speak to people at all times in English, so you can learn it to the fullest. The English language has so many sentences and phrases that don't make sense but it's the right way. unlike other languages that there is only one way to say it or write it. in English there is so much slang. so it's better to speak it and when you do not understand something just ask.

Join a ESL (English as a Second Language) class. If none are available to you, start with reading books written for children and work your way up from there. In child books, the words are smaller and easier to pronounce and there are pictures normally that match what is written.

The best way to polish your foreign language is to live somewhere that the language is predominately spoken, or if that isn't possible then you should regularly speak on the phone with someone who's first language is english.

You're already speaking English better than I could ever speak any of the Chinese languages! Make sure you keep using it. Languages are easy to forget if you don't use them often.
