so she knows that i like her and says she wants to get to know me too. but admitted that she has feelings for another guy, so we aren't going to date. she said that she likes to build a friendship and have an emotional connection before dating. but then she says stuff like "whether we become just acquaintances or friends or you know, whatever" and i can't help but let it give me hope. am i wrong to read into this stuff?

So go out with her and go out with other girls too. That's really the best situation for everyone until they are absolutely ready to settle down forever. Only then should you think about committing to one person.

You are not wrong but she may not be on the same page as you. Best to just relax with her and be your self open to all possibilities but not depend on anything with her. If you want a deeper relationship than building a friendship is best start. Why not date without any attachment. Allow her to date and if you find yourselves moving into something more serious than allow it to unfold however it unfolds.

listen man if she told you she wants to get to know you and then tells you that she likes someone else this means your gonna end up in the offical "friends only" zone...im not saying that you should stop talking to her because of this but you might deffinetly wanna look for another girl to date or whatever...sorry man it happens to the best of us
