REASON. Here's the problem. "Reason" generally refers to settling a question of FACT by argument or discussion; reason (mind) refers to the OBJECTIVE, rational part of the mind; reason as in "motive" is logical justification of FACTS; reason as in thinking, is logical, empirical generalization based on EVIDENCE. That's a handful, but all stress fact & evidence. You bring up a very interesting point. Circular logic? Yes. This is so contradictory. Why not simply state it as "faith?" Period. To be a Christian, isn't that all that's neeeded? Let me give you an analogy as to your "...they KNOW that he exists.." Not a very good one, but I've thought it interesting. A child misses death from a stray bullet, & the mother says: "It was the will of God." The child is fatally wounded by the bullet, & the mother says: "It was the will of God." FACT tells me that the bullet simply went "astray" or didn't. But, if "faith" comforts the mother in some way, why not? Your last sentence--"life" has hurdles for everyone... everyone has their CHOICE to respond in a negative or positive way. I choose to feel "good," to be stoic, to learn & grow. Of course atheists have "hurdles!" Perhaps the greatest difference is that they don't place the responsibility on a "higher power." Christianity IS a patriarchal belief, is it not? Your "father" will reward or punish you; you are born in sin, & so much more that--well. Never mind. No. God's existence cannot be proved by reason. Does it really matter?
*** Just a thought that occurred, & one of the many reasons I "leaned" toward Eastern philosophy in my studies in college. There is a "linear" assumption that: For anything that came into existence, there has to be a causal agent that has a mind...the creator has to have always existed otherwise nothing would exist...You have to believe something created it..." You open & close a book. You are born & you die. Beginning & ends. Can our small, unevolved minds even begin to comprehend infinity? Once the world was flat. Now, vast galaxies & infinite spaces are being "seen." Most of the stars that we see have been DEAD for longer than we can imagine. Instead of a"starting" & "ending" point, I think in a CIRCLE. Am I being the devil's advocate? Perhaps. For, there is so much unknown...why even debate? I also believe (with much reinforcement from those far more knowledgable than I) that all is made of energy. The energy in your INNER self will direct you--wherever you choose to go!

Apologetics is a branch of Philosophy dedicated to proving that God exists. It comes from the Greek word apologea meaning to give an answer back. There is a large amount of information available about this. Some of the better known apologists are Lee stroebel, Norman Geisler, C.S Lewis, and Ravi Zacharius although they are just the tip of the iceberg. Dr. Zacharius has a podcast that answers questions specifically like yours. He also travels the country answering questions and speaking at many different colleges and universities. Look for his question and answer session podcasts first for the fastest answers to your question.

There are spiritually speaking 2 varieties of mankind...the organic guy and the religious guy. The spirit of the religious guy has been touched and made alive by utilising The Spirit of God...Holy Ghost for the Catholic....Holy Spirit for the non Catholic. This until now organic guy has been switched over right into a spiritual guy. people who're nonetheless organic men which an atheist could be have not got any skill by utilising which to appreciate religious concerns simply by fact the failings of God are foolishness to them. that's thoroughly unrealistic and unfair for a Christian believer to assume an atheist have something to do with or have any appreciation for issues pertaining to to God. Me! :- )

Try reading "Rational Spirituality" available on the Dhaxem website. It was conveyed by God, with the entry of humanity into the Spiritual Age, in February 2006.
This concept entails a higher level of logic, one that a human mind could not have conceived.

I've said it many times, there is no greater feeling than accomplishing your goals and knowing you did it all on your own. They simply cannot comprehend how people can live without turning to God for comfort, or how they can live without finding a reason why bad things happen. "It's all part of God's plan," provides that reason. The downside though, in my opinion, is that the belief in a divine "plan" or the eternal paradise awaiting them causes some Christians to de-value this lifetime.

Rom 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are CLEARLY SEEN , being UNDERSTOOD by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that THEY ARE WITHOUT EXCUSE. This scripture says all visible creation cries out that God exists and man has no reason (the Bible calls it excuse) to deny God's existence. God says clearly that man has reason to know His existence.

Have to admit, you are asking some good questions, making people think. Gods existence has been and always will be a topic of many many debates. Because He simply exists, and always has, and no one will ever be able to scientifically prove He exists. He simply is.

Human beings will never be capable of proving any fact with 100% certainty. We have so few senses to guide us within this infinate universe, leaving us all very blind to reality. The only true 'sense' we have is our unique imaginations.
It would be wise to respect your friends' perceptions. You all have a lot to learn from one another.

i know what you mean.
here is the logic. the earth came from somewhere and life came from somewhere and energy came from somewhere. so you have to believe that something created it.
living by faith is important rather than doubting. because what a person believes will control their actions. it takes faith because noones knows for sure until they are dead. maybe the prophets of the Bible were just psychics. i believe they were prophets but that is based on faith. i won't know until i'm dead

I am not worried if God exists or not. I believe that most souls cross over regardless of the existance of a supreme being or not.
