its good that u love the subject and if learn the basics and the formulae you will improve. The best way to remember formulae is to write them down and also say them aloud several times, if possible you can even ask someone to check out as you rattle off the memorized formulae.
For improving your memory try connecting the things u want to memorize with any imaginary incidents or items or scenes or names.

what worked best for me...
1. writing out the formulas and memorizing them.
2. practicing problems with the memorized formulas.
